It’s a week into April which means that Script Frenzy 2012 has officially begun!

“But what is Script Frenzy?” you might ask.

Script Frenzy is an international writing event run by the amazing people at The Office of Letters and Light.  It challenges participants to write an entire script in 30 days, starting 12:00:01 AM on the 1st of April and finishing by 11:59:59 PM on the 30th of April.  It’s free to enter and everyone is welcome.

The Office of Letters and Light runs two Script Frenzy programs.  The main Script Frenzy is for anyone 13 years of age or older and the set goal for the month, is to write 100 scripted pages.  The second program is the Script Frenzy Young Writers Program (YWP), for anyone 17 or under.  In the YWP, participants are able to set an individual page count goal instead of the 100 pages required by the main Script Frenzy.

Script Frenzy is also great tool for procrastination.  You can use the fact that you need to write in order to meet your daily page count goal as an excuse to avoid all sorts of things.  But be warned that Script Frenzy is also very easy to procrastinate from.  You may often find that the times when you should be writing you find many other things to do, such as surf the internet or write blog posts.

However, if you do manage to make it to your goal by the end of the month, the feeling of success and achievement (not to mention bragging rights) is unbeatable.
